Where are the New Posts? What Happened?

Where is all the new content? The blog seems so…empty.

You may have noticed a decided lack of new content here on the blog over the last several months. You may also have wondered why.

Conventional wisdom when it comes to blogging, marketing, and so on says to create fresh content regularly and frequently so people keep visiting your website and search engines like to index it.

Here’s the thing, though: I’ve got a book with a lot of content. I mean a lot of it. I could keep writing more outside of that, but if I were to do so, here’s what I see as the possible subjects (in no particular order):

  1. “Yesterland” type material, where I write about attractions that no longer exist at Disneyland.
  2. Venture outside Disneyland Park–maybe write about attractions in Disney California Adventure or one of the Walt Disney World parks.
  3. Adapt what I’ve already written into other formats, like Bible studies.
  4. Write about something else entirely other than Disneyland and/or faith. (In other words, focus on Disneyland news or on Christian-based subjects that don’t relate to Disneyland at all.)

None of these really stand out to me as the right way to go, and despite the conventional wisdom, I choose not to write just for the sake of writing. That’s not really where I want my focus to be, or where I think it should be. From a marketing/bran/promotion standpoint that may be unwise, but I’m taking a risk here and trusting God to honor it. I believe I need to focus on taking what I’ve already written and sharing it in as many avenues as possible–preferably through speaking opportunities.

This isn’t to say I won’t post at all here. As something strikes me or I encounter something that I believe needs to be shared (and that fits within the “Faith and the Magic Kingdom” domain), I’ll post it. I’m actually kicking around something about the Incarnation that I may post later this month. And if there’s something that you’d like to see me write about here–maybe one of the 4 options I listed above–please let me know. Comment below on this post, post it on Facebook, or email me. Sometimes God speaks to us through others, so maybe your nudge to ask me to write about something will be exactly what I need to give you what God wants you to have.

Oh, and if you’d like to come and speak for a group that you are a part of, or that you know of, please contact me for that, too. I really believe that’s the direction God is leading me and the ministry of Faith and the Magic Kingdom right now, and maybe He’ll use you to open a door for this message!

Question: What “conventional wisdom” have you chosen to disregard (like I am), and did it turn out well for you?
