Off-Topic Thursday: Adventure is Out There!

“20 years from now you will be disappointed more by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ Mark Twain

It’s been a big few weeks or so for me! Most exciting? My new coaching business is officially launched! Check out the site to see exactly what it is I’m doing and–more importantly–how I can help you!

A few weeks ago, I was a guest blogger on Mara Stringfield’s Welcome to Adulthood blog. Mara has a unique niche for her blog, and it’s definitely worth reading. Also check out the San Diego Center for Children, an organization that provides therapeutic residential and social support services to children with severe emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. Mara works for and is very passionate about this organization and their mission!

Next, I’m now a Babes in Disneyland contributor! Every other Friday I’m posting Fun Fact Fridays about the Disneyland Resort.

I’ve also been a guest twice on the Tales from the Mouse House podcast, once to talk about the Disney Cruise I was on in February and once to talk about the One More Disney Day. Al & Joyce are great people and they really love Disneyland. If you do too, check out their (our) podcast!

To develop my Southern California travel knowledge, I’ve been conducting site inspections at hotels from Santa Barbara to San Diego. This may not sound like much, but I’ve never done anything like this before. I’m unabashedly positioning myself as an expert and specialist in something, and I’m reaching out to contact strangers and ask for their help. both of which are completely new for me.

And there’s even more on the horizon. I’m refining  the focus of my travel agent business to specialize in Disney destinations & cruises, and in celebration, event, and bucket-list travel. I’ll be promoting my coaching business & working on booking speaking engagements. I’ll be attending Dan Miller’s Coaching with Excellence event in May. And I’m sure God has even more in store.

What do all of these have in common? In every case, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone. I’m taking risks. It’s hard to put yourself out there and risk rejection and criticism (or worse, apathy and total lack of response and feedback). I started that with this blog, but now it’s been elevated to a whole new level. But if I didn’t, I’d regret what I didn’t do, the chances I didn’t take.

What about you? Are you playing it safe or taking risks? Are you doing what you think you must or are you following your dreams? At the end of your life,. what will you regret more, the things you didn’t do, or the things you did?
