Off-Topic Thursday: The Voice of Truth
This song keeps coming back to my mind many times a day.
What lies have you been believing? About yourself? About God? Have you become convinced that you’re unlovable, or that you can’t accomplish anything? Have you told yourself that you have to earn God’s favor and can’t possibly do it? Or that the challenges in your life are impossible to overcome? Has fear become your companion?
Sometimes I deal with that—even just recently, and I’m sure I will again. The lies are insidious, and they’re so believable because it’s easier to believe them than to listen to, and tell, a different story.
But that’s what God’s voice, “the Voice of Truth” does. He calls to you and tells you not to be afraid. He is with you. He loves you. He will help you. You are more valuable to Him than you can imagine. The challenges you face are for His glory and your growth.
When you hear the lies, remind yourself of the truth. Even when you don’t feel it, the truth doesn’t change. But our focus does, and that’s when we get in trouble. So choose to ignore the giants, and don’t look down at the waves. Instead, fix your eyes on the One who calls you, Who empowers & enables you, Who loves you.
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
And the voice of truth says, “Do not be afraid!”
And the voice of truth says, “This is for My glory”
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Wow! This blog really spoke to me. The biggest lie that I have been told lately is that my business will never launch. Satan tries to make me think that I can’t do things that God has laid on my heart to do. It is an everyday struggle to say “Get thee behind me, Satan” and then keep moving forward. Thanks for referencing “The Voice of Truth”. I really needed to hear that today!
Thank you for sharing that, Whitney. One of Satan’s favorite tactics is to convince us we couldn’t possibly do what God has shaped us to do. Moving forward always requires that daily renewal of our commitment–to Him, and to what he has placed in us to do.
