Starting Small Doesn’t Mean Staying Small
“What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.” ~ Jesus
Starting small doesn’t mean staying small. Jesus compared the kingdom of God to a small seed that grows into a huge tree. He started with a small handful of people and changed the world. Walt Disney started with a mouse–actually, he started with a rabbit (Oswald) and then Mickey Mouse, but we’ll go with it–and from that humble start grew the Walt Disney Company as we know it today.
What have you not done because you think, “It’s such a little thing; it won’t make any difference. It’s nothing big”?
What are you still doing because you think, “It’s such a little thing. Even if I stop doing this it won’t matter. It’s too small to make a difference”?
Whatever it is, do that one thing you need to do, or stop doing the one thing you need to stop right now. Don’t worry about how big it is, just act on what’s in front of you right now.
Start small. It may grow–but you’ll never know unless you take that first step.
